ITU World Cross Triathlon Championships, Pontevedra, Spain

Pontevedra, Spain, hosted the 2019 ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships. Conditions were perfect and crowd support lined the course.

A stacked field of elite triathletes lined up for battle across the cross triathlon course, which encompassed a 1km swim, 30km bike and 7km run.

Jacqui put in a stellar performance to claim the silver medal.

“It was such a tough day and I couldn’t be happier with my race set up and stepping onto the podium,” said Slack.

Jacqui and Nicole Waters worked together throughout the bike leg to chase down Italia’s Eleonora Peroncini, who eventually took the title. Jacqui’s hard work and determination has seen her over the last few weeks, claim 2nd at the Asia Pacific Championships and a win at XTERRA NZ World Tour race. Her ability to put together back to back performances on different continents speaks for itself.

Credit to Jacqui, her coach and her team for the hard work and belief to chase this amazing feat. Well done Jacqui, leading by example!

Meanwhile her husband, Ben didn’t have the performance he was after. After a solid swim in the lead group, he suffered on the bike and run to finish way outside where he would have normally. He’ll be back you can count on that! Head up Benny…
